What’s In My Camera Bag
Digital: My Leica SL3 is essential for my commercial photography work. Its image quality is second to none, capturing stunning detail and color across food, products, architecture, and portraiture. The intuitive controls and diverse range of SL lenses make it incredibly versatile, allowing me to achieve my creative vision quickly and precisely, whether shooting architectural shots or corporate portraits.
My personal photography projects, focused on abstract and landscape imagery, are brought to life through the Leica Q3 43 and M EV1. While the Q3 43’s 43mm focal length provides a classic reportage feel, I recently transitioned from the M11-P to the M EV1 to gain ultimate creative flexibility. This shift allows me to use the full range of Leica M-mount lenses without the need for traditional lens calibration. Because the sensor-based focusing of the EVF bypasses the rangefinder mechanism, every lens—from vintage glass to my 90mm and 135mm APO lenses—aligns with critical sharpness every time. Despite this professional-grade capability, the compact nature of these cameras makes them ideal travel companions for documenting everything from bustling cityscapes to serene natural wonders.
Film: No photographer’s journey is complete without exploring film photography. My love for film remains strong, and I keep a dedicated space in my bag for my trusty Leica M-A and Nikon F3.
The Leica M-A, a purely mechanical marvel, has no light meter or battery, forcing a deliberate and mindful approach to every shot. The Nikon F3 is a classic workhorse that reminds me of photography fundamentals, representing a pinnacle era of the brand’s evolution. Shooting film provides a tangible connection to the photographic process—a welcome counterpoint to the immediacy of digital.
